Morehshin Allahyari continues the Spring 2023 Paul Rand Lecture Series in Graphic Design, delivering an in-person talk on Thursday evening, open to the School of Art and Yale communities.

Poster design by Kaming Lee, Graphic Design MFA ‘24. Photography by Junyan Hu, Graphic Design MFA '24.

Morehshin Allahyari (Persian: موره شین اللهیاری‎), is a NY based Iranian-Kurdish artist using 3D simulation, video, sculpture, and digital fabrication as tools to re-figure myth and history. Through archival practices and storytelling, her work weaves together complex counternarratives in opposition to the lasting influence of Western technological colonialism in the context of MENA (Middle East and North Africa).

This talk was hosted as part of the Spring 2023 Visiting Artist Lectures in Graphic Design at the Yale School of Art. Introduction by Nontsikelelo Mutiti, Director of Graduate Studies in Graphic Design. Video editing by Paloma Izquierdo, Sculpture MFA '23.

The Paul Rand Lecture Series in Graphic Design is made possible through the generosity of the Paul Rand (’85 M.A.H.) Annual Lectureship in Design Fund.
